Description

This four-drawer commode is crafted from walnut with distinctive burl walnut veneer panels on each drawer front. The top surface features two small 'glove' or 'handkerchief' drawers on either side of a low, scalloped backsplash. The main drawers are fitted with decorative brass escutcheons featuring central keyholes and brass knobs set against star-burst shaped backplates. The side stiles are embellished with geometric, carved block-work and faceted details. Visible machine-cut dovetail joinery on the drawer sides indicates late 19th-century construction. The piece shows signs of use, including a prominent vertical scratch on the side panel and some finish wear on the top surface and edges. 43h x 40w x 19d
