This is a solid oak rocking chair featuring a distinct high backrest with three vertical slats. The central splat is wide with custom decorative scalloped edges, flanked by two narrower straight slats. It has broad, horizontally-sweeping 'swan-neck' arms that rest on turned front supports. The seat is a solid, flat oak plank showing visible grain patterns and surface wear. The chair base comprises four turned legs joined by a turned H-stretcher, all mounted on thick, steam-bent wooden rockers. The wood is finished in a medium-tone golden oak, exhibiting significant character through age-related scuffs, scratches on the seat surface, and localized thinning of the finish on the armrests.
