This pair of side chairs is constructed from solid oak with a warm, dark finish that highlights the natural grain. The backrests feature a serpentine, molded crest rail above a 'wheat-back' spindle configuration, consisting of nine vertical spindles that fan out from a horizontal cross-brace. The seats are fitted with hand-woven natural rush in a traditional four-section envelope pattern. The chairs are supported by turned front legs with ring and vase details, terminating in small bun feet, while the rear legs are square and slightly raked. A decoratively turned front stretcher and plain side and rear stretchers provide structural reinforcement.
